Oasis a seriously interesting band. Now, they were a British rock band formed in Manchester in about 1991, maybe a little bit before. Originally, they went by the name The Rain. The members were Liam Gallagher who really just sang and beat on the tambourine once in a while. Paul Arthurs, who’s playing the guitar, Paul McGuigan, who was playing bass, and Tony McCaroll, who was the drummer. Now, pretty soon, Liam has an older brother named Noel Gallagher, who was a very prolific and solid songwriter, wrote some great tunes. But it was kind of, partly by being an older brother, wasn’t too interested in what his younger brother’s band was doing. But as time went on, he wants the band to put together, to play his songs. So, Noel pretty much called up the band and said “I want you guys to play my songs. I want to be the only song writer in the band.”
Of course they took him on. They really needed some material because the stuff they were coming up with was definitely sub standard. Remember, Noel is a very talented songwriter so one he joined up with the band, a hit machine was born. They made eight number one singles and seven albums that reached number one in the UK. They got all kinds of different awards; the Q awards, Europe music awards, and MTV. In 2007, they were recognized as having one of the best albums of the previous thirty years.
They were nominated for some Grammies after their BBC radio listeners voted for them. As of 2009, they have sold more than 30 million records. By the way, they were listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest top ten UK chart run for a group. This happened because they had 22 consecutive top ten hits. Really, this is unheard of. Even way back, the Beatles didn’t have that many. It’s certainly interesting when a band talks about or perhaps rarely proclaims that they are the next Beatles. This happens every now and then when the critics or the record labels, Sony, BMG, and others believe that their latest, hot band is on the way to being the next Beatles. People, this will never happen. There were things going on in history that made it possible for the Beatles to become who they were. Anyway, the band members signed on to the Creation Records label. This is when they started putting out their initial stuff.
Definitely Maybe. Now this was a little bit later after their earlier hits. But the main thing I want to talk about was song Wonderwall because it is really a take off in the first place of the Beatles. George Harrisson was the first Beatle to put on an album that i was a solo album. That was because a soundtrack to a movie called Wonderwall. Well, Wonderwall Music and the album was called Wonderwall Music and it was mostly ambient kind of stuff that was definitely not ready for the Beatles label. Although, it did it did come out on Apple. I believe because Capitol, EMI wanted nothing to do with it, because they knew it would never sell. Anyway, so George put out a couple of albums early. Wonderwall and then electronic sounds and John was putting out some of his experimental albums at the same time. There were two albums called Unfinished Music, Life of the Lions was one and Two Virgins was the other. Very controversial because the album cover that included none of clothes in either of them. So, and then he and Yoko put out another experimental albums after that called The Wedding Album. So, John put out some pretty sketchy albums in the late sixties.
The band made several appearances on MTV unplugged and they played at the World Festival Hall. However, since they also seemed to be bickering between the two brothers, it looks like the plug has finally been pulled. As far as most people know, they are finished. By now, Noel Gallagher has gone off, doing his own thing. He’s writing and playing his own stuff. He spent a little bit of time playing with Zac Starkey, Ringo’s son. There you go, another connection between Oasis and a Beatle. So the album that Wonderwall was on was released in 1995. It was called “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” It sort of just rode, rode on the charts for awhile because it had all kinds of hit singles including “Roll With It”, “some Might Say”, “Don’t Look Back in Anger”, and of course, “Wonderwall”. All of these were really big. They were a lot bigger in UK, in Britain, than what they were in the United States. However, there were two big hits in the United States. In addition to “Wonderwall”, “Champagne Supernova” was another single that was a radio staple. This was a song that a lot of my students learned in the mid and late 1990s. This was a period when music seemed a bit sketchy. It seemed like it had entered some kind of void period.
There were a few rather interesting complaints, or at the very least you’d call them critical comments about some of the stuff from the Morning Glory album. Writer, John Harris published an article called “Britpop!: Cool Britannia and the Spectacular Demise of English Rock”, where he compares many of the themes and songs from the album directly to the songs and themes of other songs by other artists. He talks about Gary Glitter’s song “Hello, Hello, I’m Back Again” as one of the songs that clearly had parts stolen from it. Other songs like John Lennon’s “Imagine” is really similar to “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” Many of the songs had a lot of similarities to existing pop songs, even older existing pop songs. It’s rather hard to give these guys much credit for originality.
This is exactly what happens in this type of Brit pop. Really, there is, in general, a lot of this kind of stuff going on all over the music industry. Not an abundance of creative, innovative ideas. Again, Oasis claimed to be much better than The Beatles. A lot like Michael Stipe. One of my students and I were having a conversation the other day about people. More specifically, self promoters and at one point, an interview with Michael Stipe from R.E.M. We were also talking about some of those really great R.E.M songs like Stand and Losing My Religion. Back to the point I was trying to make. At one time during the interview, Stipe said that the Beatles music was a lot like elevator music. Of course, that’s not an exact quote, but you get the point. It rather hard to believe that anyone, especially a musician, could entertain that thought, let alone say it out loud, in an interview. At the end, the interview said that had it not been for the makers of that elevator music and the elevator music itself, Micheal Stipe himself would have had to take the stairs forever. It really is a bit dicey when people try to compare themselves to the masters. One more thing I want to through is some other songs that were on the “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” It started with Hello. Gary Glitter got all the credit for that one, because it was one that really was taken. It was almost the cover of his song. Roll With It, Wonderwall, and Don’t Look Back in Anger were next in line. Don’t Look Back in anger sounded an awful lot like Imagine.
There, I just had to get Imagine back in my head. They also had Hey Now and another one called Untitled. That is definitely one of my favorite titles. I personally have a lot of songs with the same name. First there was Some Might Say, followed by She’s Electric and Morning Glory, ending with a few other songs, and another Untitled. They did give these untitled songs subtitles. One was called The Swamp Song. The next one was subtitled The Swamp son, part 1, part 2 Or Excerpt 1, and Excerpt 2. The album ended with Champagne Supernova. I wanted to make a note here. The two tracks, the Swamp tracks, were officially called Untitled mostly because there were a few blank spots on the tapes, especially the ones that were produced in Mexico. This is because the vinyl edition had a bonus track. While vinyl had sort of died about a decade earlier, it was still hanging on. There was an extra song, Bonehead’s Bank Holiday, on there. If you ever want to own Bonehead’s Bank Holiday by Oasis, you know its from the Morning Glory period……You’re only going to find it on vinyl. While the evolutions of many things can be fascinating, we are now into the 2nd decade of the 21st century. We are now looking back to those vintage sounds that can only be found on vinyl.
That is my last couple of thoughts on these guys. So, if you’re really interested in Oasis, I encourage you to check out some of their many interesting albums.Their songs are pretty fun to play. But, if you can play half a dozen Beatles songs, I guarantee you could play all the Oasis songs, because they’re a little bit simpler.

There are many things that we value and try to hold on to in the world that we live in. These things can be any one of a number of old and nostalgic items from our past. They can be old buildings or very old antiques. These can also be our ideas, and one is outlined with piano lessons.
Music is one of the oldest things on the earth. Every since man came to be, they have been participating in music and rhythmic dances and ceremonies. It is by far the earliest and oldest form of entertainment that we know of, and it continues to entertain us today.
Music is a skill that not very many people have and are holding on to. There are so many different ways that this music is being made. Huge orchestras and hundred piece ensembles wow crowds at theaters and opera houses. Tribal dances require only a drum and maybe a small wind instruments in some parts of the world. Synthesizers give out an electric and popular sound that can be heard on almost every new pop song being created.
The piano started out as a vision by musicians who wanted to create a finger stimulated string instrument. They came up with the harpsichord, which is literally a harp that is played by playing keys. This soon turned into the piano, and became widely used all over Europe and Northern Africa. This piano was used by the best musicians and became the undeniable symbol of classical music, along with the violin, all over the world.
Playing the piano requires a lot of skill and hours of practice. The first step towards learning how to play is really learning which notes are which, especially if you intend to play music from a score. This can actually be the hardest part about learning how to play the piano. Once the notes are learned it is really just following the score.
Of course, not all music scores are really considered easy. There are so many different levels of piano playing, many of which vary in fundamentals, such as tempo, key changes, and other things, instead of the actual notes. Some easier songs only require the pianist to play with their right hand. The hardest songs can sometimes require anywhere from four to nine fingers to be used at once.
When you listen to music on the radio, you might be touched by the sound sometimes. This feeling and emotion that you feel when listening to the radio should also be felt when playing the piano. A good piano player must be one with the music that they are playing. Grace and things like varying pitches and loudness all can contribute to this. A good player automatically knows how to play their notes, just because it feels right.
Piano lessons are the first step towards knowing and mastering the piano. It is possible to start on your own and be able to master it through workshops online, but the personal feeling that a teacher gives helps success. Every guitarist should know how to change guitar strings. This is one of the most basic maintenance skills and really not that difficult to learn. All you need is a right tool and a little know how. In this article we’ll talk about why, when, and how to replace guitar strings.
We shall begin with why – why change your strings? The answer is very simple. It’s because strings wear out over time. There is pressure from playing, there is dirt, there is oil from your hands, and there are many other factors as well.
You can probably imagine what this means. Simply put, they don’t sound the way they should, they become overstretched, greasy, and corroded. And this is definitely not good. Okay then, when do we replace them?
Of course you will replace a string, if it breaks. But you should never wait this long. Most beginner guitarists wait too long before they change their strings. You never wait for a string to break in order to change it.
Make it a habit to change them regularly every few months. You should know that even if you don’t play much, strings will still wear out. The bottom line – if you guitar sounds duller and flatter, if you cannot tune it properly, if you see rust on your strings, then it’s definitely time for a change.
What do you need in order to do that? Not much, it’s quite easy. You will of course need a set of replacement strings, pliers, and a great little tool called a string winder. You can do it without a string winder, but it’s so much easier with it.
What’s next? Well, just remove the old string by unwinding it from the tuning peg and removing the bridge pin. Then insert the new string and stretch it. The next part is the most difficult one – you must tune it. Beginners will probably need some help with this.

Learning to play the guitar takes commitment and persistence, but it is an achievable skill by anyone willing to take the time and try. Here are some things that can help when learning to play the guitar.
1. Invest a little – Using the best instrument possible to learn how to play can be a big help in the learning process. As with most activities having the right equipment makes a world of difference in the final outcome, and also makes things much easier.
Because of this you should invest and buy a good guitar. It doesn’t have to be the best, most expensive, or even new, but it should be one of good quality and in good condition. This is because a quality guitar will sound better and will be able to be tuned more easily. This will go far in your enjoyment of learning and playing this wonderful instrument.
2. Practice makes perfect – If you’ve never heard the saying “Practice Makes Perfect”, you have now. This fits learning how to play the guitar as well as anything. Without practice you can’t expect to be any good. If there is a secret to playing well and learning in the quickest time possible, it is constant and consistent practice.
The fact that practicing is a requirement to become a skilled guitar player is not a surprise to most, but what is the best way to practice? When designing you practice schedule you should plan to play every day for at least 30 minutes. This works a lot better than practicing only one or two days a week for a few hours.
