Initial versions were narratives of a woman who was led into degradation. The Animals transposed it into that of a man witnessing his father changing from a loving man into a drunken gambler. It was performed as the closing number when they toured with Chuck Berry. Micky Most, the producer was finally convinced of the potential when witnessing the crowds reaction. It was finally captured at a small recording studio on London’s Kingsway in a single take.

So I just returned from the theater from seeing The Last Airbender and I present to you the review. Some people that are really big fans of the Nickelodeon show were disappointed with it, but I really did not have that big of a problem with the movie. Although there are strange pronunciations of the character names and there scenes that are switched around but the fight is nicely done. But to really get the full effect of this movie you have to look at the action, the plot, and the characters.
The Avatar or the Last Airbender, has characters and personalities that a lot of people have fallen in love with. However the movie does fail to produce the same personalities rather it shows it in spurts rather than in full out fleshed characters. Aang is usually a happy-go-lucky child that makes mistakes and loves to laugh, however in the movie he comes across as a child with an adult personality. Yes, at times Aang is very serious in the show which is what is portrayed in the movie, but he also enjoys having fun, which is the aspect that the movie did not show…at all. The characters that did not have the looks but exactly the right personality were the Prince Zuko and his uncle, Iroh.
The plot was not perfectly in sync with the show, but it was pretty close. The beginning and the end of the movie did line up with the movie rather closely, but the parts in between those had changed. Like the speech that Aang gives inside the earthbending camp, was originally done by Katara in the show. Small changes like that may be miniscule but they do exist. For me, the weird way they said the names actually bothered me more.
The action scenes are definitely the best aspect of this film. Like the Nickelodeon show, the movie seems like it took time to learn martial arts rather than simply copying something from a movie. The fight scene, the 3D effects, and the bending were really good. If you are familiar with the show, some of the character and plot changes may upset you, but the fighting is worth seeing.
For this movie it definitely has its highs and lows. Still don’t miss this one. All of the bad press comes from the changing of races in the movie; it didn’t bother me I cared more about the right personalities over which race played what character.
